ARTISTIC TRAVEL JOURNALING brings
much more than it might seem
Even decades later, revisiting any page in your journal will bring back the moment you created it with astonishing clarity and immediacy! In these workshops, you'll learn how to: (a) see and believably sketch the human figure and the head; (b) sketch and paint houses, trees, just about anything; (c) record a great meal as you're enjoying it; (d) understand (and maybe even use) perspective; (e) become comfortable working with watercolor; (f) capture not merely what you see before you, but every sensation you're experiencing at the moment!
You'll learn the secret of transforming any boring, interminable wait (think airport, jury duty, auto being serviced, bus or train trip -- even a long car ride!) into absorbing, pleasurable, creative time.
The Joy of Artistic Travel Journaling We've
scheduled this workshop midweek-to-midweek, so we can visit some of the interesting crafts and farmers'
markets of rural Greene County that operate only on weekends. The Joy of Artistic Travel Journaling |

I'm
pleased to report that my 2007 workshop-tour was a resounding success, from
the standpoint of each of our participants, and myself! We explored the exotic beauty of the Vietnamese countryside, cruised Ha Long Bay overnight on our own private junk, and with my guidance, each of us had the opportunity to create a unique visual record of impressions and experiences. This fully guided twelve-day tour was organized by Global Spectrum Travel, specialist in art tours and in Southeast Asia, and was sponsored by The Scottsdale Artists' School. Focusing on artistic travel journaling as a means of experiencing, learning, and remembering the pleasures of travel, we recorded such highlights as overnight train trips between Hanoi and Sa Pa, unique dining experiences, spectacular sights, and meetings with local artists. There were numerous opportunities to explore and sketch villages, markets, and native people in this fascinating country. |

Journeys and Journals As our 2007 Vietnam workshop neared its conclusion, the biggest question among the attendees was, "Where are we going next time?" travel experience. * Three days in Siem Reap, Cambodia, visiting the legendary temples at Angkor, and the floating village on Ton Le Sap Lake. * Visits to Ho Chi Minh City (the old Saigon), and the Mekong Delta. * Visit to Danang and Hoi An, including a morning cooking class, and a walk among the ruins of My Son, a world heritage site. * Visits and interaction with local artists and artisans * Boat trips, river cruises, shopping, and more.
